Published: 18 Feb 2010

In an event organized by the Netherlands Space Office and SpaceNed, the Dutch association of space companies, cosine has presented how it has succesfully developed with the use of many small and big partners a new technology for a world-class space mission.

In the event, where it was also announced that planetoid 55720 will be named Daandehoop after one of the nestors of Dutch space activities, Max Collon of cosine and Ronny van ’t Oever of Micronit explained how a technological breakthrough in X-ray optics was achieved for ESA. This technology is based on silicon wafers and other technologies from the semiconductor industry and enables the construction of IXO, an X-ray telescope for astronomical observations that is significantly more powerful than any predecessor. The technology was developed by a collaboration of several small and large organizations under the leadership of cosine.
