Available position A22G0002: Sales Engineer

cosine is at the heart of the quickly evolving new space market, at the edge of innovation. At cosine you will see projects through from start to finish, including the launch into space of the instruments developed and built in house by our remote sensing team.

To help us turn our customers’ ideas into reality, we are looking for a Sales Engineer that follows up leads, writes proposals and offers for commercial and institutional customers, as well as further standardizes our offering and increases our presence in this rapidly growing market.

As our Sales Engineer you have the technical knowledge to understand our projects. You are a pro-active and flexible team player, able to discuss with customers what their needs are. You have good organizational and social skills and enjoy helping your colleagues.

We design, build and deliver space instruments in our high-tech facilities. Our customers’ deadlines are our priority. We develop products, produce small series and provide custom solutions tailored to our clients’ needs. Some of our optical instruments are small enough to be launched on board a nanosatellite and include on-board processing electronics with state of the art and experimental artificial intelligence hardware.

cosine is a Dutch company with branches in Germany and Italy. We develop and build optical measurement systems for space, air and ground use. Our head office in Sassenheim is located in the heart of the Randstad and houses extensive cleanroom facilities with optical, assembly, calibration and environmental testing equipment.

Responsibilities and tasks

  • Implement business development and sales strategies in consultation with management
  • Follow up existing leads and generate new ones
  • Arrange business meetings with prospective clients
  • Provide information on possible technical solutions that could solve the prospect’s problem and that cosine could provide
  • Facilitate closure of business deals by preparing proposals and offers and support negotiations
  • Build long-term relationships with new and existing clients
  • Attend and organize events

Qualifications and experience

  • Required: MSc in physics or engineering and 3 years of sales experience in the space industry
  • Beneficial: PhD in physics or engineering, aerospace engineering, business degree and 5 years of experience in the space industry in multiple countries and/or experience in the Dutch space sector

Expertise and skills

  • Required: basic understanding of optics and electronics, writing technical commercial offers
  • Beneficial: remote sensing instrumentation and/or applications, geodata collection and services, writing ESA proposals, writing business plans, negotiations
  • Required: ability to understand, speak and write English fluently in a professional working environment
  • Beneficial: any other languages
