Available position Experimental Physicist

cosine’s High Energy Optics team develops and produces innovative x-ray optics based on its Silicon Pore Optics technology. These optics are designed for use in future telescopes dedicated to astrophysical missions, such as the ATHENA telescope of the European Space Agency (ESA). Silicon Pore Optics can also be used in ground-based applications ranging from medical to material research and semiconductor fields.

We are currently looking for a talented experimental physicist to strengthen the development team and to meet the increasing demand for these novel optics.

Your job will be to work together with our team of very talented physicists and engineers to develop new metrology systems and to mature existing processes. You will work in our facilities and cleanrooms to implement and test your solutions. The production process of the optics involves state-of-the art magnetron sputtering machines, ion-beam figuring (IBF) systems, optical metrology, fully automated robots and wet-chemical processes.

  • Development of improved automated optical metrology systems to measure mechanical and physical properties of silicon mirror plates
  • Development of systems to characterize the bond strength of Silicon Pore Optics
  • Optimization of the ion-beam figuring processes for the needs of Silicon Pore Optics

Skills and qualifications

  • PhD (or master with significant experience) in experimental physics, applied physics or similar
  • Expertise in (X-ray) optics, IBF or chemical processes
  • Semiconductor background is a strong advantage
  • Ability to speak and write English fluently in a professional working environment

Experienced physicists working in similar working fields with interest in this particular area are also very welcome to apply.

We offer

A part-time or full-time job in a dynamic and international setting, where you can combine your scientific and engineering skills and ambition with highly innovative technology and applications, with good and flexible working conditions.
