cosine OPS ready for landing

MASCOT, with cosine’s OPS on board, is scheduled to land on the surface of Ryugu on 3 October 2018!

Space probe Hayabusa2, operated by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), has reached its target: it is in orbit around asteroid Ryugu. cosine developed and delivered the Optical Proximity Sensors (OPS) of the Mobile Asteroid Surface Scout (MASCOT) lander. These guidance, navigation and control (GNC) sensors, placed on the sides of MASCOT, will allow the MASCOT lander to orient itself, regardless of how it lands. The MASCOT lander twitter feed indicates that the GNC sensors are in working order.
